Used to love it when I was a kid. Now too over-controlled and overpopulated. If you want to hike here you have to volunteer to be food for the animals. Bear and big cats are common. Not to mention two legged varmints. There are actually signs saying you shouldn't take children on certain trails as they make good snacks for the wildlife. We're not hunters, but we don't want to be hunted. Been enough times, to say "been there, done that". We'll stay in the Rockies. So in summary:
